Question: I am building a flower bed 60 ft long by 8 ft wide by 3 ft deep. How much dirt will it take to fill it with top soil/dirt.

I am not sure of the units you want so I will calculate the volume on both cubic feet and cubic yards.

Cubic feet is feet feet feet so the volume is

60 8 3 = 1440 cubic feet.

Cubic yards is yards yards yards so to find the volume in cubic yards you need to change all the dimensions to yards. There are 3 feet in a yard so the volume in cubic yards is

 60/3   8/3  3/3 = 53.33 cubic yards.
