Ellie, There is a book by John Mighton, that gives a really good presentation of memorizing the times tables (and lots of other helpful ideas for a parent wanting to help their child learn math). John Mighton, Jump at Home: Math worksheets for the elementary curriculum There is a grade 3 and a grade 6 version. Memorizing a multiplication table is found in the grade 6 version, but the grade 3 book goes into detail on some of the ideas behind multiplication (such as skip counting) and may be helpful.
