Hi was wandering if you can help me with this problem--Probabiltiy confuses me so much!

A Man has two cars, a recall and a lemon. The probability that the recall starts is 10%. The proabability that the lemon will start is 5%.

What is the proabability that boht cars will start?

What is the probability that neither car will start?

What is the proabability that exactly on car will start!

Thanks

Thanks again! Hopfully i will pick this up soon!

Hi Katie,

Since events are independent (start of recall does not influence on start of lemon)

P{recall starts and lemon starts}
= P{recall starts}*P{lemon starts}
= 0.1*0.05 = 0.005 = 0.5%

Does this help with the other two parts?
