Question: Hi im kevin and i was wondering how do you find the volume and surface area of a cylinder and a triangular prism.

Hi Kevin,

In the Quandaries and Queries database there is a note called Volume of a trough that will help with the volumes. A note on the surface area of a cylinder can be found in a similar note called Surface area of a cylinder

For a triangular prism the surface is composed of 3 rectangles (and 2 triangles if you want to include the ends). The surface area is the sum of the areas of the rectangle (and triangles).

Penny
