Can you please tell me names of at least five female math teachers who changed history back then?

Hi Kisha,

There is a great history of mathematics web site at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, called the The MacTutor History of Mathematics archive. One of their pages, http://turnbull.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/history/Indexes/Women.html has a list of women mathematicians. Any of these and many more would satisfy your criterion.

From the Mac Tutor list there a few that I would suggest that you read about. Their lives are facinating.

  • Hypatia of Alexandria

  • Maria Gaetana Agnesi

  • Marie-Sophie Germain

  • Augusta Ada King Countess of Lovelace

  • Emmy Amalie Noether

  • Mary Fairfax Greig Somerville

  • and one closer to our own time, Julia Bowman Robinson

This archive only contains information on mathematicians who are dead. There are a great number of living, woman mathematicians who are making history right now.

Cheers,
Penny
