What is the next term in the sequence:

1, 5, 14, 30.....

Hi,

These "next term in the sequence" problems almost always have more than one correct answer. What you are looking for is any pattern that the given terms have and that can be used to generate more terms. Quite often you can see a pattern by looking at the differences between successive terms. Here you get

5 - 1 = 4

14 - 5 = 9

30 - 14 = 16

Do you see anything special about these three differences? Can you now see how to generate more terms?
