Hi,

My son was given a math problem that has stumped me and my wife, he is in the eighth grade. Here's the math problem.

  1. how would you find the area of the quilt? which is a square

  2. how would you fined the area of each square?

Hi,

The area of a rectangle, and hence also a square, is the product of the length and the width. Measure the length of the quilt and the width of the quilt in the same units. (If it is a square then these two measurements should be the same.) Multiply the two measurements together to get the area in square units.

Cheers,
Penny
