Question: if you know that sin45degress = cos45degrees, how do you know that tan45degrees = 1?

Hi Justine,

It follows from the definition of the tangent function. For any angle A the tangent is defined by

tan A = sin A/cos A Hence, in the case where sin A = cos A, it follows that tan A = 1.
