Looking for Help...............

i am helping my kids out with school work and don't remember meters, centimeters decimeters and all those. We have to change meters into cm.....and so on..........is there a place on the web to look for some kind of help in these questions ....please reply asap!!!!!!! Kelly, mother

Hi Kelly,

I found a site with some metric prefixes and other metric facts. For example if you are measuring distance then the base unit is a meter. The prefix "kilo" means thousand (1000) so one kilometer is one-thousand meters. "centi" means hundredth (0.01) so one centimeter is one-hundredth of a meter. The most commonly used prefixes are kilo, hecto, deca, deci, centi and milli.

For example to change 7264 grams into kilograms, "kilo" means thousand and so 7264 grams is  764/1000 = 7.264 kilograms.

Cheers,
Penny
