What, exactly, is the proper way to determine the median of a set of numbers when doubles or triples of a number are part of that set? Do the doubles count as two and the triples three, or does each count only as one toward determining the median. PS I've found contradictory ministry-approved materials on this issue..

Just as you said, the doubles count two and the triples count three, etc. For example if the data is

7, 8, 7, 5, 10, 7, 10, 5, 9 you sort it in order 5, 5, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10 and the median is 7.
