ok 8w-15=3w-10, w =?????

We need to get all the terms with 'w' on one side of the equation, and all the terms without a 'w' on the other side. To that end, add 15 to both sides of the equation and subtract 3w from both sides of the equation.

This gives:

5w = 5

Therefore, w = 1 (divide both sides by 5)
Check in the original equation:

left side = 8w-15 = 8(1)-15=-7
right side = 3w-10 = 3(1)-10=-7
left and right side are the same so w=1 is correct
