Question:
I HAVE AN AREA 10'x6'I WOULD LIKE TO PUT LOAM ON IT 5" DEEP HOW MANY CUBIC YARDS OF LOAM DO I NEED?

HOW DO YOU FIGURE OUT THE FORMULA?

PLEASE HELP
THANKS

Hi Pat,

Since you want the volume of loam in cubic yards you should change all the dimensions to yards. There are 3 feet in a yard so 10  feet is  10/3 yards. Similarly 6 feet is  6/3 yards. There are 36 inches in a yard so 5 inches is  5/36 yrds. Hence a volume of 10'x6'x5" is

 10/3 x  6/3 x 5/36 = 0.93 cubuc yards. One cubic yard will do.
