Hello,

My 9th grader was given this problem:
FIND

(A / B) . (C / D)
where
A = Y squared + 3 . Y cubed
B = Y squared + 4
C = 2 . Y + Y squared
D = Y + 4 Y squared + 3 Y cubed

His teacher gave the answer as (Y - 7) . (Y - 2)

Please help as we don't know how to get to the teacher's answer and even don't know if the answer is correct !

Thank you

Hi,

If I am reading this properly the problem is to find  A/BC/D where

  • A = Y2 + 3 Y3

  • B = Y2 + 4

  • C = 2 Y + Y2

  • D = Y + 4 Y2 + 3 Y3
If this is correct then
There is no further simplification.

My feeling is that there is an error in the statement of the problem as you sent it to me, or as I interpreted it.
