What is the sum of the first one hundred even numbers?

Hi Arthur,

The first 100 even integers are

2, 4, 6, ..., 200 Thus the sum of the first 100 even integers is 2 + 4 + 6 + ... + 200

= 2(1 + 2 + 3 + ... + 100)

Thus the sum of the first 100 even integers is twice the sum of the first 100 integers. Does this help?
