Quandaries and Queries

Hi There - I hope you can help with this one. I have been asked to
simplify the expression (5a2)(-2b2)(3b)+(7a2)(2b2)+(-3a)(-5a)(4b)
and the answer is apparently 44(a2)(b2). For the life of me I can't
figure out how they derive this.

Many thanks for any assistance,
Jessica.

I am a student in Grade 11 at Ipswich Girls Grammar, secondary school in Queensland. Australia.
Thanks again
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

I agree with you, the expression you have does not simplify to 44a2b2.It is just a guess but I think the problem should be to simplify the expression

(5a2)(-2b2)(3)+(7a2)(2b2)+(-3a)(-5a)(4b2)
