If you have a surface of 6500 square feet and 1 inch of rain falls on the surface, how many gallons of water does this equal?

 

 

Hi Jocelyn,

First you need to find the volume of water in cubic feet and then convert it to gallons. Since 1 inch is 1/12 of a foot the volume of water is

6500  1/12 cubic feet

Converting from cubic feet to gallons depends on which kind of gallon you want. The conversions are

1 cubic foot is 7.48 US gallons

1 cubic foot is 6.23 British gallons
