Hi Julie, When you rotate the prism all the different sides are called faces. I guess it can be confusing when you think of how the prism is sitting on your hand. The base would be whichever side is down. This avoids that problem. So if you are looking to find the volume of the prism, the base would be whichever side is down. Does this answer your question?
