Quandaries and Queries

Hi,

My name is Michael, i m a 1st year University Student. I would like to know, how to solve this Complex number: quadratic equation.

ix 2 + x -i = 0

Thanks a lot!

Hi Michael,

I would first multiply both sides by i to get

i 2 x 2 + ix - i 2 = 0 That is -x 2 + ix +1 = 0 or x 2 - ix -1 = 0

Now use the general quadratic to solve for x. You will get two values of x. Check that they really are solutions.
