Question:
I was looking at an example of csc 45 deg where

csc = hyp / opp = 1 / (sqrt(2) / 2) = 2 / sqrt(2) = sqrt(2)

I just don't get this. If sqrt(2) = 1.4142145..... How can 2 / sqrt(2) = sqrt(2) as the example shows?

Make sense?

Hi Mike,

The square root of 2 is the positive number whose square is 2, tht is it that satisifies

x2 = 2 hence sqrt(2) sqrt(2) = 2 Thus
 2/sqrt(2)sqrt(2)  sqrt(2)/sqrt(2) = sqrt(2)
