Quandaries and Queries

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you can help me out with a small problem.
My boat has a fuel tank measuring 1680mm long x 630mm wide x 130mm high. Can you tell me how much fuel it will hold in both litres and imperial gallons.

Thank you.
Phil,
Fisherman

Hi Phil,

Your tank is 168 cm by 63 cm by 13 cm so the volume is

168 63 13 = 137 592 cu cm

One cubic centimeter is one millilitre and hence the volume is 137.6 litres.

There are 4.546 litres in an imperial gallon and thus your tank holds 137.6/4.546 = 30.3 gallons.

Cheers,
Penny
