Dear Math Central,

Please help with this problem. I am in Junior High and not sure about this problem.

The product of four consecutive integers is 3024. What are those numbers.

Thanks for helping.

Pillar

Hi Pillar,

Since these are 4 consecutive numbers they are very close to each other. If they were in fact all the same number, lets call it x, then

x4 = 3024 Use you calculator to find the fourth root of 3024. (Take the square root of 3024 and then the square root again.) I did this and got a number that is a little larger than 7. This tells me that the 4 numbers you are looking for are all close to 7.

Now try strings of 4 consecutive integers, one of which is 7, to find a string that has a product of 3024.
