Which leg of the journey, Washington, D.C. to Boston, or Boston to Washington, D.C., takes the longer time?

On the way to Boston he drives at 65 miles per hour and hence he spends 442/65 = 6.8 hours driving. He takes a 1 hour rest stop and hence the trip took 7.8 hours.
