Quandaries
and Queries

My name is Jackie. I am in grade 10 doing M4 Algebra 2, which is advanced. I am having trouble solving this question for x: 1.) x^{2/3} 7 x^{1/3} + 12 = 0

Hi Jackie, What I see is that x^{2/3} is the square of x^{1/3} and hence the equation looks to me like
so I would proceed with a substitution. Let y = x^{1/3}. The equation then becomes
Solve for y and then find x using y = x^{1/3}. Penny
