Hi Joe, With a little care you can solve these inequalities in the same way you would solve an equality (equation). For example with your first problem. If it were an equation you would have
Subtract x from both sides to get
Add 10 to both sides
Now replace the = by <

The "extra care" you have to take is in the situation where you need to multiply both sides of the inequality by some number. If the multiplyer is negative then the inequality changes direction. For example if you have
