Question:
My Math Midterm is tommorow and I am stumped... how do you turn 1 and 3/8 into a decimal... I know the answer is 1.375 but I just copied down what the teacher wrote on the board.
Oh, and what are the three cases of percents?
Thanks Very Much.

Hi,

You can express the fraction 3/8 as a decimal by division.Divide 8 into 3 and you get 0.375 not 1.375.

I am not sure what you are asking in your second question. Are you looking for three examples of places where we use percents? If there is a sales tax where you live it is expressed as a percent. I expect that when you get an exam graded in school the result is expressed as a percent. Also if you have a bank account there there is probably an interest rate associated with it which is exprressed as a percent.
