how many combinations are there for the numbers 1thru 36 when only using each number once in groups of five
 

 

Hi,

This sounds like lottery question. You have 36 numbers, 1,2,3,...,36 and you want to choose 5 of them without duplicates. This is the number "36 choose 5", sometimes written 36C5 . Its value is given by

 36C5 = (3635343332)/(54321) = 376992
