Compute the cost of ready mixed concrete for a driveway 70ft long, 10ft wide, 3 inches deep at a cost of $30.00 per cubic yard
 

 

Hi Cathy,

Since the cost of the concrete is per cubic yard I would change all the units to yards first. Ther are 3 feet in a yard and 12 inches in a foot so

70 feet is 70/3 yards
10 feet is 10/3 yards
3 inches is 1/4 of a foot which is 1/4  1/3 = 1/12 of a yard

Thus the driveway requires 70/3  10/3  1/12 cubic yards.

Each cubic yard costs $30.00 so the cost for the concrete is

30.00  70/3  10/3  1/12 dollars.
