We are trying to figure out how many miles per hour we rode in a bike race. If the distance was l5 miles and the time it took was was 55 minutes, what is the speed?

Hi Deborah,
The distance travelled is in the correct units, miles, but the time is in minutes. 55 minutes is almost one hour, in fact it is 55/60 = 0.9176 hours. Thus you travelled 15 miles in 0.9167 hours so your average speed was
15/0.1966= 16.4 miles per hour.
