I am a parent of a grade 6 student and need to confirm that commas are no longer used when writing numbers (the Canadian method). For example, how do you write one hundred thousand? 100, 000 or 100 000

Thanks so much,
Jacqui

Hi Jacqui,

You are correct, in Canada, we no longer use the comma to separate groups of numbers, so that we write 100 000. We use spaces now to separate groups of numbers. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of this, even though this has been in place for at least 15 years. So you may still find older teachers using the commas.
