Question: my homework says can you find the first five terms of this sequence?
5n-6 i can`t figure it out.
Hi Jade,
In sequences like this the letter n indicates which term in the sequence you are looking at.
When n is 1 you have the first term.
When n is 2 you have the second term.
When n is 1 you have the third term.
etc.
Thus
When n = 1: 5n - 6 = 5
1 - 6 = 5 - 6 = -1
When n = 2: 5n - 6 = 5
