at the ice cream parlor, customers can chose among five different ice cream flavors and can choose either a sugar cone or a waffle cone. considering both ice cream flavor and cone type, how many distinct triple-scoop with three different ice cream flavors are available?

Hi Bill,

Since the triple scoop is to have three different flavors you get to choose 3 flavors from 5. The number of ways of doing this is

5 choose 3

Now that you have decided on the flavors you get to choose a cone. There are two types of cones and hence the number of different triple-scoop ice cream cones you have to choose from is

twice 5 choose 3
