if a building b feet cast a shadow f feet long, then, at the same time of the day, a tree t feet high will cast a shadow, how many feet long?

Hi Bill.

If you assume that both are casting shadows on horizontal ground and both are vertical, then you have similar triangles. What do you know about the ratios of corresponding sides of similar triangles?

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
