Hi Bruce. It's not too hard to show using calculus that the area of an ellipse is half the long diameter by half the short diameter times pi. Here's a link mathworld.wolfram.com/Ellipse.html that shows how that is done. So for your question, (30")(60")(3.1416) = 5655 square inches. |
