Hi Burt, I have two places you can find some applications. First go to the first page of Math Central and search in the Quandaries and Queries section for the word conic. In the list of items that is returned look at the one titled Uses of conic sections . Secondly return to the first page of Math Central and follow the link to math beyond school .
