How many gallons of water in 6600 feet of half inch pipe

David,

Assuming that the half inch measurement is the inside diameter of the pipe, the cross-sectional area of the pipe is pir2 = 0.1963495 square inches. 6600 feet is 79200 inches, so this length of pipe holds
0.1963495 x 79200 = 15551 cubic inches.

If you are using british gallons, there are 277.4 cubic inches in each gallon. Using the smaller american gallons, there are 231 cubic inches per gallon. So just divide the appropriate conversion factor into 15551 cubic inches to get the number of gallons.

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
