How do you solve for variables in the denominator?

178 = 17/R

Hi Donna.

When you multiply both sides of the equation by R, it cancels on the right hand side and you end up with an equation that doesn't have a variable in a denominator (actually there is no fraction left at all). Then you can solve it the way you do other equations. This includes verifying that the answer you get is a solution of the original equation.
