Find three consecutive odd integers such that the sum of the first and second is 27 less than 3 times the third.

Hi Emma.

You are finding three consecutive odd integers, so let's say the smallest is called a. Then the next one is (a+2) and the third one is (a+4), because they are consecutive odd integers.

Now the sum of the first and second (that's a + (a+2) ) is (equals) 27 less than 3 times the third ( 3(a+4) - 27 ).

So a + (a+2) = 3(a+4) - 27.

Can you solve for a now?
