WHY VOLUME OF CONE IS ONE THIRD OF THE VOLUME OF CYLINDER?

Hi Ajay,

The usual way to find the volume of a cone is to use calculus. It comes down to integrating x3 which is
1/3 x3 and hence the 1/3.

This may not be very helpful. There is a development of the expression for the volume of a cone that doesn't use calculus. I can supply a reference

The Volume of a Cone, without Calculus
M. Hirschhorn
Mathematics Magazine, Vol. 70, No. 4. (Oct., 1997), pp. 295-296.

It is available on the JSTOR site but this site is available by subscription only.

Sorry I can't be more help,
Penny
