Question from Anuj, a student:

If in a regular polygon, each exterior angle is twice the interior angle, find the number of sides?

Hi there,

The formula for the size of an exterior angle for a regular polygon is 360/n where n is the number of sides in the polygon.

The formula for the size of each interior angle for a regular polygon is (n-2)(180)/n where n is the number of sides in the polygon.

If each interior angle is twice as big as each exterior angle, set up the equation using the formulas above and isolate n.

each interior angle is twice as big as each exterior angle
(n-2)(180)/n = 2*360/n

Hope this helps!
