Question from Bridget, a parent:

my daughter has to change a subtraction problem with negative numbers in it to an addition problem with negative numbers and then solve the problem such as:

-4-(-2)=?

Hi Bridget,

The important thing to realize is that subtracting a negative is a positive (as in cancelling a debt); arithmetically this means that minus a minus is a plus so for example -(-2) is the same as +2. I
hope this helps you to solve your problems.
