Question from Chris, a parent:

Is zero a number or a place holder?

Chris,

0 is a number. It is the number that is neither positive nor negative. There is some use as what one might call a 'place holder' in that one thousand is represented by 1000 meaning 1 thousand, no hundreds, no tens and no units, but definitely 0 is a number.
