Question from claire, a parent:

Hi, I can't figure out what to do with the Q(x) right smack in the given identities.

If 4x^3 - 6x^2 + 1 = (x-2)(x+1)Q(x) + ax +b where Q(x) is a polynomial, find a and b.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Claire,

Substitute x = 2 into the expression and simplify. Can you see how to complete the problem now?
