Question from darren, a parent: I have a figure of 627.30 i need to find out what the original amount was before 18% was taken away to leave the 627.30 |
Darren,
Suppose the original amount was x then x minus 18% of x is 627.30. Writing that as an equation gives
x - 18/100 x = 627.30
which is
x - 0.18 x = 627.30
or
0.82 x = 627.30
so
x = 627.30/0.82 = 765.00
