Question from debbie, a teacher:

What is the hypotenuse of a right triangle with sides of 38 meters and 24.2 meters?

Debbie,

The hypotenuse can be obtained using the Pythagorean Theorem:

a2 + b2 = h2

where a and b are the lengths of the perpendicular sides and h is the length of the hypotenuse.
