Question from farzana, a student:

pointsA(1,0),B(8,0),C(3,4) are the vertices of a triangle. What is the of this triangle?

Hi Farzana.

You can calculate the distance between the points by using the distance formula.

Once you have the lengths of the three sides of the triangle, you can calculate the area of the triangle from that by using Heron's formula.

If you are unfamiliar with either of these, you can find many detailed examples in our archive of questions. It's listed by topic here.

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
