How to you decide whether the graphs of these two equations are parallel lines:

y=3x+2, y=1/3x+4

Hi Jennifer,

Two lines are parallel if they have the same slope. Do you know how to read off the slope from the equation of a line?

Penny

Hi Jennifer.

Parallel lines have the same slope. Can you read the slopes from the
equations of the two lines? Are they the same? If they are the same,
then the lines are parallel, if not, they intersect.
