Question from Kevin:

What speed is a vehicle traveling if he drove a quarter of a mile in eight seconds?

Hi Kevin,

You didn't say what units you want for the speed.

If he drove an quarter of a mile in eight seconds then he drove an eighth of a quarter of a mile in one second. Four times eight is thirty-two so he drove a thirty-second of a mile in one second. If you want his speed in miles per hour multiply by the number of seconds in an hour.
