Question from maria, a student:

we have a pool that is 2 feet by 5 feet by 3 1/2 feet - how many gallons of water does it hold?

Maria,

The volume of the pool is length x width x depth. This gives you the volume in cubic feet. Then you can convert this to gallons by multiplying by 6.23 or 7.48 depending on whether you mean UK or US gallons respectively.

Hope this helps,
Stephen.
