Subject: variable expressions
Name: Morgan
Who are you: Student

how do you simplify 18e^2fg/32eg^2

Hi Morgan

First look at the 18 in the numerator and 32 in the denominator. Both these numbers are divisible by 2 so you can divide the numerator and denominator by 2 to get

eqn1

9 and 16 have no common factors so start looking at the variables one at a time. The variable e appears in the denominator and e2 in the numerator. Thus you can divide the numerator and denominator by e to get

eqn2

f only appears in the numerator so there is no simplification in that variable. g appears in the numerator and g2 in the denominator so you can divide the numerator and denominator by g to get

eqn3

No factor divided both the numerator and denominator so there is no further simplification.
