Question from QueenB, a student:

Lindy is Planning To Build a Model Train Using A Scale Where 2 inches represents 25 feet. If the train is 60 feet long, what is the length in inches that lindy should Build The Model Of the train?

Hi there.

The scale is like a fraction. 2 inches per 25 feet means 2 inches over 25 feet.

So you can multiply the actual length (60 ft) by the scale factor (2/25) to find the number of inches in length for the model.

Your answer is 60 x (2 / 25).

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
